Solid Shampoo Bars (Human)

My solid shampoo bars are plastic, SLS, sulfate and soap free. Created from high quality, naturally derived ingredients they are also PH balanced and no ‘transition period’ is required unlike soap based shampoo bars.

If, like me, you would like the convenience of a shampoo bar without the faff that can go with soap based products, this is the product for you.

Handmade in small batches at my Dorset workshop, the shampoo bars are carefully made with plant based ingredients. All are also suitable for vegans.

Perfect for all hair types they are quick and easy to use and ideal for using at home or when travelling with no need to worry about declaring liquids at the airport.

Solid shampoo bars are an ideal companion to my solid conditioner bars which you can find here.

Solid Shampoo Bar FAQs

How long will my shampoo bar last? Each 60g bar will last for an average 45 washes but this will vary depending upon how it is stored, the length of your hair and how you are using it. Keeping it dry between washes will greatly extend the lifespan of your shampoo bar.

Why does my hair not feel the same as after using my bottled shampoo? If you are using a commercial, mass produced shampoo it will most likely contain silicones that will coat your hair , cause a build up and can eventually weaken your hair as well as cause irritation. My shampoo bars do not contain silicones and so will not strip your hair of natural oils or cause damage. The silicones are in effect, lulling you into a false sense of hair security, long term, making the switch to silicone free products will be better for you and your hair.

Why does my shampoo bar not lather up in the same way as my liquid shampoo?  Many commercial, mass produced (liquid and solid) shampoos contain sulfates that lather up brilliantly but that is not great for the environment and can cause skin irritation. SLS is a very well known one. (Not to be confused with SLSa which is not a sulfate - I know - it is a lot to get your head around) My shampoo bars do not contain sulfates and are extremely gentle on the skin and do lather well but it is a different lather to what you may be used too. The bubbles tend to be smaller and denser but the bars cleanse brilliantly. If you were to compare liquid shampoo and bars that contained the same ingredients (and many do ) the results would be very similar.

Why does my shampoo bar not smell as strongly as my liquid shampoo? The percentage of fragrance allowed in a cosmetic product is regulated and levels allowed depend on what the fragrance is and the purpose of the product. To create a strongly scented product I would need to use a synthetic fragrance. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this and there are lots of lovely fragrances out there my products do not contain unnecessary synthetic ingredients and I have chosen to use plant based essential oils. The science around scent longevity is a whole subject in itself but generally a natural scent will not be as strong, or last as long as a laboratory created one.
