Alabama Rot - What is it?
I heard today there has been another case of this awful, and often fatal illness in Dorset, my home county. I know a little bit about it having done some reading over the last year or two and now seems to be as good a time as any for a recap. This disease has no boundaries within the doggy world. Size or breed are irrelevant. It strikes hard and fast unless identified early. Its cause is unknown for sure although it is thought that the culprit may well be mud related. The best advice therefore is always wash your dogs...
Stress Stacking .. what is it?
Stress Stacking in Dogs Many of us have dogs who seem to suffer, disproportionately, with anxiety or stress and the smallest thing can be a trigger. I have a springer spaniel, Ziggy, whom I often refer to as having mental health issues but in actual fact I am quite convinced most of his issues are stress related. Ziggy is unhappy with this, he has low self esteem and looks anxiously...
Keeping your dog entertained in winter!

We are quite fortunate, we have a busy household, there is generally someone around and something happening but even we need to be a bit inventive sometimes so I...
Raw feed or not to raw feed! My thoughts!
When we first got our rescue dog Willow, she came to us with a day or 2 supply of raw food. This was a first for me as I have always fed dry foods to my other dogs, plus scraps from the table. That led me to doing quite a lot of research, I found a lot of information from avid raw feeders arguing for it and an equal amount from vets and the such like arguing against it but I really didn't find much from normal people, like me, trying to work through the minefield of information! The theory...
Photographs that need no words
Every now and again I see a photograph that just strikes a chord, one that I like to look at again and again.. for no other reason than it makes me smile, or its just beautiful or that it needs no word of explantion. This is one of those photographs. Military soldiers - sleeping. Its such a lovely picture and really demonstrates the bond between humans and dogs. Enough said I think.
